Eid beauty trends to know this season

As Eid approaches, salons across Oman are entering one of their busiest seasons, with women booking their beauty appointments early in preparation for the celebrations.

From glowing skin to natural waves and clean nails, this year’s Eid beauty trends are leaning towards looks that feel fresh, polished and practical for long days of visits, gatherings and family occasions.

We spoke to Sheikha Asila Mardas al Harthy, founder of Waw Beauty Lounge in Al Khuwair, to learn more about this year’s beauty trends and the services clients are requesting ahead of Eid.

According to Al Harthy, skincare remains one of the strongest beauty priorities this season, especially in Muscat’s hot weather.

“The latest trend related to skincare is that most clients ask for a glowy and bright skin that looks fresh”, she said, noting that heat, dryness and sun exposure often leave the skin looking uneven or tired. At Waw Beauty Lounge, popular options include acne and oily skin facials, deep facial cleansing and treatments that focus on giving the skin a healthier, brighter appearance.

For hair, Al Harthy said clients are not necessarily choosing dramatic styles, but are instead focusing on maintenance and softness. Root colour, trims, highlights and treatments are among the most requested services before Eid.

“I noticed most of the clients love to dye their hair roots as maintenance and maybe add some highlights and take care with treatment more than a hairstyle on Eid”, she said. “But I think the most popular is wavy and something more natural”.

Nails are also expected to be a major part of Eid beauty this year. Al Harthy said French nails and classic colours remain favourites, while cat eye, ombre, chrome and 3D nail art are also trending for clients who want something more creative.

“Most of the clients ask for French and classic colours on Eid”, she said. “But in the lounge, our nail specialist is very skilled in nail art with 3D drawings, in addition to chrome and cat eye nail looks”.

She added that bright red, maroon, baby pink and off-white are among the colours expected to stand out this Eid.

Among the top services clients usually book before Eid are mani-pedi treatments with whitening or paraffin for hands and feet, facials, hair root colour and trims; and nail extensions with French tips or basic colours. At Waw Beauty Lounge, one of the special treatments offered is “Detoxygen”, which Al Harthy said is good for deep pore cleansing and gives a glowy result.

For those who want to look polished without doing anything too heavy or uncomfortable, Al Harthy’s advice is to start with the skin.

“My advice is to take care of your skin”, she said, adding that clients should not think of facials only as a quick fix before an occasion. “We treat the skin as cycle care”.

She also warned against common beauty mistakes before Eid, including applying masks only to the ends of the hair while ignoring scalp buildup, dandruff or oil imbalance.

“A clean scalp improves volume, freshness and long-lasting styling”, she said.

Other mistakes include booking keratin or protein treatments too close to Eid, applying acrylic or gel nails on weak natural nails without treatment, using dark polish on damaged nails, or cutting cuticles too aggressively.

To make beauty looks last throughout Eid visits and gatherings, Al Harthy said the look should be practical for Muscat’s weather and the movement between indoor and outdoor spaces.

“In places like Muscat, heat, humidity and frequent movement between outdoor and indoor spaces can quickly affect beauty looks during Eid”, she said. “People move between family homes, restaurants, gatherings and photos for many hours. Heavy layers often melt, crease or feel uncomfortable”.

Her top tips include using anti-humidity hair spray, avoiding touching the face often, booking hair treatments several days before Eid, doing brows or threading two to three days before and booking nails one to two days before. She also recommends carrying a small touch-up kit with compact powder and a hydrating mist.

For Al Harthy, the perfect Eid look is simple: “Clean nails with glowy and healthy hair and of course a bright and boosted skin”.
